Decision time has come and we want your opinion. We have been on the fence about a full carbon fiber fork for a couple of years. From an engineering and liability standpoint it is a nightmare. Poor to moderate impact resistance. Prone to catastrophic failures. Grossly expensive to develop a full custom fork that is not bonded together. Flakey tensile and yield strength issues. These are just a few of the reasons we decided to go old school and stick with a titanium product built to our specifications. We can come close in weight to a carbon fork (1 pound and change), provide similar dampening properties, all while having a more durable product. The issue comes down to how old school do we want to go. Which of the following would you rather see as the consumer/industry worker/general online ranter:
1)All Titanium
2)Titanium Legs/Carbon Crown/Titanium Steerer
3)Titanium Legs/Carbon Crown/Carbon Steerer (We truly fear the carbon steerer, but want to hear your input)
The fork will only be available for our Dillinger frame. This will mean a 485mm axle to crown, 45mm offset, straight 1 1/8 steer tube, and post mounts.
The upcoming Vegas 26 and 29 inch full suspension all mountain frames will be carrying a new moniker. The 26 inch version will named “Analog” in its’ final state and the 29 inch version will be named “Digital”. We have had these names floating around for some time and since the the 29 inch version will be based on a slightly more complex system the the 26, but will aesthetically be similar, we figured now was the best time to use them. Also both new frames will be compatible with the recently announced Cane Creek Angleset system which allows for head angle changes of anywhere from .5 to 1.5 degrees in either direction. Don’t worry if you are not interested in this headset, the design will still also be compatible with all traditional 1.5 headsets and all reducer and taper models out there.
The Soul Cycles / MTB-Life racing team was well represented as the entire team came out to Ithaca Michigan for the 6 & 12 Hours of Ithaca. Nate and Eddie partnered up in the 2 person Advanced category. They finished 2nd overall with 16 laps through the 5.5 mile course. Competing solo, Justin completed 12 laps coming in 5th and Rob completed 9 laps finishing 8th in the mens solo 30-39 class.
